David A. Neufeld is a Professor of Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University, where he has held a faculty position since 1989. He earned his B.A. in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University (1981), an M.Sc. in Astronomy from Sussex University (1983), and a Ph.D. in Astronomy from Harvard University (1987), followed by a postdoctoral appointment at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on observational astrochemistry and high-energy astrophysics, particularly molecular shocks in supernova remnants, cosmic-ray ionization rates in diffuse clouds, and suprathermal OH emissions probing water dissociation near protostars. His recent work includes JWST/MIRI and SOFIA/EXES spectroscopic studies of warm H₂ and rotational CH emissions. He received the Bok Prize (1996) and an NSF Young Investigator Award (1993), and collaborates extensively with institutions across the US, Europe, and Canada.
