Daniel R. Weisz is a Professor of Astronomy at the University of California, Berkeley. His research centers on galaxy formation and evolution, stellar astrophysics, and star formation, with a focus on resolving stellar populations in nearby galaxies and probing the earliest epochs of the universe. His recent work leverages JWST to reveal hidden mass in early galaxies through bottom-heavy initial mass functions and to trace inside-out quenching in quiescent galaxies at redshifts 1.2–2.2. He also leads the Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Southern Treasury (PHAST) survey, mapping spatially resolved star formation histories in M31. His publications appear in Nature Astronomy, Astronomy & Astrophysics, and The Astrophysical Journal.
