Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Center for Integrated Science and Engineering
Connor Occhialini is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the Center for Integrated Science and Engineering at Columbia University. His research centers on the structural and electronic properties of quantum materials, with a specific focus on magnetism, multiferroics, and 2D semiconductors. Recent work includes the electrical switching of a p-wave magnet (Nature, 2025), the coupling of electronic transitions to ferroelectric order in a 2D semiconductor (Nature Communications, 2025), and the ferroaxial density wave in rare-earth tritellurides (Nature Physics, 2025). He has also investigated tunable nanophotonic devices based on 2D magnets (Nature Photonics, 2025) and the shear-mediated stabilization of spin spiral order in multiferroic NiI₂ (Advanced Materials, 2025).
