Congzhou Wang is a researcher at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology whose work bridges materials science, nanomedicine, and applied physics. His research focuses on engineering surface-functionalized nanoparticles—including core-shell metal-organic frameworks, melanin nanoparticles, and gold nanorods—to modulate cellular transitions and cytoskeletal dynamics. Recent breakthroughs include using N-cadherin-targeted melanin nanoparticles to reverse endothelial–mesenchymal transition, thereby slowing atherosclerosis and cancer progression, and employing nanoparticle-based photothermal treatments to inhibit endothelial-derived mesenchymal cell migration. His work also extends to plasmonic biochips for sensitive biomarker detection. Published in venues such as ACS Nano, Biomaterials, and Chemical Engineering Journal, his research holds significant promise for treating fibrotic diseases and metastatic cancers.
