Collin Wilkinson is a Senior Professor at Alfred University, where his research integrates materials science, applied physics, and solid mechanics with a focus on glass science. His recent work investigates glass–water interactions, structural relaxation through numerical and atomistic models, and the vibrational properties of interatomic potentials. He also explores sustainability challenges, including waste glass flow modeling, accelerated low-temperature stabilization via thermo-ultrasonication, and the technoeconomic feasibility of photovoltaic recycling. Wilkinson received a 2024 NSF RUI award of $480,000 to examine discrepancies between stress and enthalpy relaxation in borosilicate glasses. His publications appear in venues such as the Journal of the American Ceramic Society, npj Materials Sustainability, and MRS Bulletin.
