Claudia Maier is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University. Her research integrates pharmacology, phytochemistry, and proteomics to investigate bioactive compounds from medicinal plants, with a focus on their metabolic effects and mechanisms of action. Recent work includes characterizing the cognitive-enhancing triterpene and caffeoylquinic acid constituents of *Centella asiatica* in aged mice, elucidating the impact of ashwagandha extracts on cytochrome P450 systems in primary human hepatocytes, and developing proton spin network fingerprint libraries for mass spectrometry-based identification of botanical constituents. She also leads collaborative efforts in untargeted mass spectrometry metabolomics to standardize data annotation, and explores gut microbiota modulation and bile acid dynamics in models of metabolic dysregulation. Her research spans analytical chemistry, molecular biology, and neuroscience, bridging plant science with translational applications in dietary supplements and metabolic health.
