Cindy McEvoy, M.D., M.C.R., is the Credit Unions for Kids Professor of Pediatric Research and Professor of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. A senior investigator in pediatric pulmonology and neonatology, her research focuses on the developmental origins of lung health, specifically the impact of prenatal exposures and respiratory interventions on alveolar growth in premature infants. Her recent work includes a randomized controlled trial demonstrating that extended nasal CPAP increases lung growth at six months in preterm infants, alongside studies on the pulmonary effects of patent ductus arteriosus and prenatal cannabis and tobacco exposure. She also investigates early-life environmental influences on child development through the ECHO consortium, examining links between prenatal air pollution and autism spectrum disorder. Her research integrates translational animal models with large-scale pediatric cohorts to advance neonatal respiratory care and public health.
