Christopher Forsyth, PhD, AGAF, is a Professor at Rush University. His research sits at the intersection of gastroenterology, neuroscience, and microbiology, focusing on the gut-brain axis and the role of the microbiome in systemic disease. His recent work has pioneered the use of plasma extracellular vesicle proteomics as reliable diagnostic biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease, and he has investigated how prebiotic interventions alter host and microbe proteomes in this condition. Forsyth also studies the impact of circadian misalignment and alcohol on intestinal barrier resilience, as well as the gut microbiome’s role in spinal degenerative conditions. His translational research spans colon carcinogenesis, neurocognitive performance, and digestive disease pathophysiology.
