Senior Staff Associate II in the Department of Medicine
Chenyi Xue is a Senior Staff Associate II in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University. Her research focuses on vascular biology, atherosclerosis, and cardiovascular genetics, with particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms driving smooth muscle cell phenotype switching, macrophage activation, and clonal haematopoiesis in atherosclerotic plaque formation. Her recent work has identified BHLHE40 as a candidate modulator of vascular smooth muscle cells and PRDM16 as a regulator of plaque composition, while also elucidating the role of the AIM2 inflammasome in atherosclerosis and the noncanonical activation of macrophages by IgG. She has contributed to landmark publications in Nature, Circulation Research, and the European Heart Journal, including the decoding of variant-to-function relationships at the LIPA risk locus for coronary artery disease.
