Carmem S. Pfeifer is a High Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University. Her research integrates polymer chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering to advance dental and biomedical materials. Her current work focuses on developing novel methacrylate and acrylamide-based adhesive systems, thiourethane oligomers, and quaternary ammonium methacrylates to enhance bond durability and antimicrobial efficacy in restorative dentistry. Recent breakthroughs include drug repurposing for glucosyltransferase inhibition to disrupt oral biofilms, anti-MMP strategies using CHX- or DOX-loaded TiO₂ nanotubes, and multimodal approaches to improve titanium–bone interface strength and antimicrobial properties in PMMA bone cements. Her publications appear in leading venues such as *Dental Materials*, *npj Biofilms and Microbiomes*, and *JADA Foundational Science*.
