Carl M. Gay is an Assistant Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on thoracic oncology, specifically the molecular biology of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). His recent work investigates circulating tumor DNA methylation for treatment monitoring and outcome prediction, including liquid biopsy correlates from the BRIGHTSTAR trial in ALK-rearranged NSCLC. He also explores antibody-drug conjugates targeting HER2 and TROP2 in SCLC, alongside strategies to overcome resistance to topoisomerase I inhibitor payloads. Additional interests include tumor cell surface targeting in high-grade neuroendocrine carcinomas and intracranial responses to novel immunotherapies.
