Brett C. Sheppard is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University, where he specializes in surgical oncology, with a focus on pancreatic cancer. His research integrates tumor biology, gastroenterology, and radiation oncology to advance cancer care. Recent work includes developing a high-throughput protease-activated nanosensor assay for early pancreatic cancer detection (Science Translational Medicine, 2025) and characterizing replication stress tolerance and clonal T cell responses distinguishing liver and lung recurrence outcomes (Nature Cancer, 2025). He has also pioneered technical innovations in robotic liver resection and investigated chronic pancreatitis via T1ρ magnetic resonance fingerprinting. His collaborative efforts address pancreatic cancer disparities among Oregon’s Native American populations through tribally responsive research systems with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs.
