Boyi Gan is an Endowed Distinguished Professor and N.G. and Hellen T. Hawkins Distinguished Professor for Cancer Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research integrates cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry to elucidate mechanisms of cell death and metabolism in cancer. Gan’s latest work focuses on ferroptosis regulation, including DHODH-mediated suppression of ferroptosis driving radioresistance in lung cancer, and context-dependent ACSL4 regulation by SPOP and CHD1 in prostate cancer. He also investigates cuproptosis, copper redox imbalance in neural cells, and metabolic underpinnings of this novel cell death pathway. His recent publications appear in Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Angewandte Chemie.
