Bhavna Shamasunder is a Senior Professor at Occidental College. Her research integrates public health, environmental health, and environmental justice, focusing on urban communities in Los Angeles. Her work examines chemical exposures from personal care products among Black women and Latinas, urban soil lead contamination near industrial sites, and community-level impacts of environmental stressors, including extreme heat and air pollution.
