Beverly E. Sha, MD, is a Professor of Medicine at Rush University. A senior physician-scientist specializing in infectious diseases, her research focuses on HIV virology, clinical outcomes in heavily treatment-experienced populations, and the intersection of HIV with pulmonary and cardiovascular disease. Her recent work includes real-world evaluations of lenacapavir, nanopore-based HIV-1 epitranscriptomics, and multi-omics analyses linking the gut microbiome to atherosclerosis in people with HIV. She also investigates SARS-CoV-2 sequelae in HIV cohorts and HIV preexposure prophylaxis’s impact on bacterial sexually transmitted infections. Her collaborative research spans multicenter cohorts and molecular virology, advancing both clinical care and fundamental understanding of HIV pathogenesis.
