Bastian Bentlage is an Associate Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Guam. His research integrates evolutionary biology, molecular phylogenetics, and marine genomics to investigate the evolution and ecology of marine organisms, with a particular focus on coral microbiomes and cnidarian systematics. Recent work includes comparative genomics of _Vibrio_ pathogens associated with white syndrome in _Porites cylindrica_, seasonal microbiome dynamics in sedimentation-impacted corals, and clarifying the taxonomic identity of the box jellyfish type species _Carybdea marsupialis_. His broader interests span fish and avian biology, applied microbiology, and the evolutionary genomics of reef-building corals.
