Asif Rashid is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pathology, with specific interests in hepatocellular carcinoma, tumor biology, and the molecular pathogenesis of liver cancer. His recent work includes genome-wide association studies identifying high-impact susceptibility loci for hepatocellular carcinoma in North America, clinicopathologic characterization of colorectal carcinomas with KRAS codon 146 mutations, and evaluating circulating Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 (FGF21) as a prognostic biomarker in hepatocellular carcinoma. He has also investigated immune checkpoint inhibitor-mediated hepatotoxicity and developed primary colon and duodenal tumor cultures from the Apc-mutant Pirc rat for screening preventive agents.
