Artur Davoyan is an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Samueli School of Engineering. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the Australian National University in 2011. His research spans applied physics, nanophotonics, and space science, focusing on light–matter interactions in van der Waals metasurfaces, deeply subwavelength excitonic nanophotonics, and dielectric resonances of hexagonal boron nitride nanodisks. He also investigates solar sailing smallsats and high-resolution exoplanet imaging via natural telescopes. Davoyan leads projects on plasmonic metamaterials for laser ablation propulsion and collaborates with institutions including Caltech, JPL, and ITMO University.
