Ankur Naqib is a Senior Professor at Rush University whose research integrates microbiome science, immunology, and neuroscience to investigate the gut–brain axis and infectious disease pathogenesis. His recent work includes a randomized controlled trial demonstrating that MIND diet-induced weight loss drives microbiome remodeling in Alzheimer’s prevention, alongside studies profiling nasal microbiota in sinonasal tumors, urothelial carcinoma microbial signatures, and vaginal microbiomes in Kenyan adolescents. He has also explored the oral microbiome’s link to cognitive performance in older adults, prebiotic adjuncts for posttraumatic stress disorder, and the impact of circadian misalignment and alcohol on intestinal barrier integrity. His translational portfolio spans epidemiology, dysbiosis, and inflammation, with findings published in venues such as *Gut Microbes*, *npj Dementia*, and *Frontiers in Neuroscience*.
