Andrew W. McHill is an Associate Professor at Oregon Health & Science University, where he investigates the intersection of sleep, circadian physiology, and public health. His research focuses on the cardiometabolic consequences of sleep irregularity, including its effects on heart rate variability, blood pressure, and obesity risk. Recent work examines the consistency between subjective and objective sleep regularity measures, the impact of irregular sleep-wake timing on circadian phase, and the influence of caffeine, alcohol, and phone use on sleep patterns in young adults and shift workers. His studies also explore the post-illumination pupil response as a biomarker of circadian timing.
