Andrew G. Sikora is a Professor of Head and Neck Surgery and Director of Research for Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on cancer immunotherapy, tumor immunology, and the tumor microenvironment in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). His recent work, published in *Nature Cancer*, identifies intratumoral bacteria as drivers of immunosuppression and immunotherapy resistance in HNSCC. He also investigates microbiome-derived lactate in promoting radiation resistance, neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy response rates, and prognostic biomarkers such as CD3 and PD-L1 expression. His translational studies include liposomal doxorubicin to potentiate anti-tumor immunity and targeting mitotic vulnerabilities (AURKA/TRIP13) to enhance antitumor immunity.
