Ana W. Capuano is a Senior Professor at Rush University. Her research focuses on the neuroscience of aging, with specific interests in Alzheimer's disease, cognitive impairment, and the neuropathological correlates of dementia. Her recent work explores brain-peripheral proteome crosstalk in Alzheimer's disease with comorbid diabetes, the influence of age on neuropathology-dementia relationships, and proteomic signatures linking viral antibodies to neurodegeneration. She also investigates cerebrovascular pathology in older Black decedents and sex differences in blood pressure and cognitive decline. Her studies leverage harmonized cohort data to examine diabetes, insulin resistance, and brain health, contributing to a deeper understanding of dementia risk factors across diverse populations.
